Scott Adams
Scott Adams is currently in his 9th year teaching physical education/health at Avon Middle School North. He has coached numerous sports at both the middle school and varsity levels. He is currently a basketball trainer at Champions Academy. Scott graduated from IUPUI with a major in physical education and minoring in psychology and health. He went on to earn his Masters from Olivet Nazarene in 2007.

Karen Adcock
Karen Adcock has been teaching since 1974. She has taught Biology, Health, Physical Education, 7th grade science, and 8th grade science. She received her Bachelors degree from Greenville College (her church college in Greenville, IL) and her Masters from I.U.P.U.I. She currently is teaching at Ben Davis High School in the evening school program during the regular school year. She has worked with ANGEL for the past six years and has helped develop some of the online classes at Ben Davis. Karen's husband is also in education. He is the principal at Avon High School. They have two children and three grandchildren. She grew up on the west side and attended Ben Davis High School. Some of her main interests are spending time with her family, being active at the Light and Life Free Methodist Church, and enjoying being with friends.

David Ballou
David Ballou is a licensed Health and Physical Education teacher that is employed at Avon High School. David completed his undergraduate studies at Indiana University in Bloomington, IN. He went to Indiana after completing his high school education at Avon High School in Avon, IN. While at Avon, David was a four-year letter winner in football while being selected a team captain both his junior and senior year. Upon leaving Avon, David went on to letter three years at Indiana in football. David has spent eight years working as the head strength and conditioning coach at Avon High School while earning his Masters degree from AT Still University in the field of human movement. David has spent all 8 years at Avon teaching Advanced Physical Conditioning classes. David feels that learning how to live a healthy lifestyle is one of the most important things a student can do. David will be teaching for the first time as a member of the IOA staff.

Angela Barnes
Angela Barnes was born in Texas, but she grew up here in Indianapolis. After grade school, she earned an academic scholarship to attend Cathedral High School where she participated in many activities including track, drama, and the school newspaper. From there, she earned her Bachelor Degree in English, Teaching with a minor in Humanities at Ball State University. Shortly after graduation, she spent five years teaching reading, International Baccalaureate English, and journalism in Daytona Beach, Florida. The rest of her teaching career she has spent in Indianapolis teaching for IPS and the MSD of Wayne Township. In 2005, she earned her Masters Degree in Educational Technology from IUPUI and completed the CIESC Teacher Leadership Academy. She has earned several teaching awards including Teacher of the Month, Teacher of the Year from the Aerospace Education Association, and an IPL Golden Apple Award. Currently she serves as an English teacher and department chair at Ben Davis Ninth Grade Center. She is happily married and has a beautiful daughter. Her hobbies include running, listening to music, reading, photography, and scrap booking. She enjoys teaching with IOA because she thinks that her online class has fewer distractions then in the traditional classroom setting.

Lisa Blamey
Lisa Blamey graduated from Indiana University with a Bachelors degree in l995 and received her Masters degree from the University of Indianapolis in 2002. She teaches ACP Composition, AP Language & Composition and year one of the International Baccalaureate English Curriculum. She has taught English with the Indiana Online Academy for several years. Lisa is married to her husband Dave and they have two children, Payton and Gabby.

Craig Blossom
Craig Blossom teaches Algebra I at Riverside Junior High School in Fishers, Indiana. He was born in California and graduated from California State University Long Beach with both his Bachelor's and Master's Degrees. He has taught middle school math in California and Indiana for 25 years.
Craig has been married to his beautiful wife Rebecca for 24 years. Rebecca is a realtor for ReMax Integrity in Carmel. They have one child, a son named Trevor. Trevor graduated from Noblesville High School this year and will be attending the College of Mount Saint Joseph in Cincinnati in the Fall of 2010.
Craig's life revolves mainly around his family, his faith, his job, and sports. He and his family also enjoy traveling. In the summer of 2009, they went to Spain. They have attended Grace Community Church in Noblesville since 1998. He is a big sport's fan and enjoys talking about any and all sports.

Bobby Boehman
Bob Boehman is currently in his twelfth year of teaching high school mathematics. The last three years have been at the Wayne Enrichment Center, the Alternative School for Ben Davis High School. He was a 1997 graduate from Indiana State University, and again in 2005 for his masters in School Administration. This July will be his third anniversary with his wife Tina, and he has a 10 year old step-daughter Austen, and a 2 year old son Andrew. In his spare time he loves to race in long distance mountain bike races competing in 100 mile events and 24 hour races.

Jacqueline Bollenbacher
Jacqueline Bollenbacher has been teaching for 17 years and has been at Bluffton High School for 11 years. She graduated from IPFW in 1993 with a Bachelors degree in Mathematics. Jacqueline received a Master's Degree in education in 2003, and currently teaches Algebra 1, Algebra 2, PreCalculus and AP Calculus.
Jacqueline lives in Fort Wayne, Indiana and is the Mother of 2 young men ages 24 and 22. In her free time she enjoys reading, walking, going to concerts and traveling.

David Bolsega
David Bolsega is a veteran teacher with the IOA. He is in his 27th year of education and currently teaches at FTMS EAST. He has a Bachelors Degree as well as a MASTERS DEGREE in Physical Education. In the area of Health and Fitness his experience includes a daily exercise program. He started his daily exercise program after graduating from college and still continues it to this day. Other Health and Fitness related experiences include, training high school and college athletes. He has completed two 26.2 mile marathons and since 1976 has jogged over 15,000 miles. He lives a very active and physical lifestyle and hopes to educate his students to enjoy the benefits of this class to improve their positive attitude to an active lifestyle.

Aron Bright
Aaron bright has been married to his wife Marcia since 1993 and they have two wonderful children, Alyssa and Royce. He has taught US History and Geography at Avon High School for the last fifteen years, and at Centerville High School for two years. He graduated from Manchester College in 1992 and is currently completing a masters degree in History from Indiana State University.

Marcia Bright
Marcia Bright received her BS in mathematics with teaching certification from Manchester College (1993) and her MEd in school counseling from Indiana State University (2006).She has been married to Aron since 1993. Their children Alyssa (10) and Royce (3) keep them busy. She taught math in grades 8-12 for nine years. For the last seven years she has been a guidance counselor at Cascade High School in Hendricks County. This is her third summer teaching algebra for IOA.

Kelly Britton
Kelly Britton has been teaching for eight years with both Indianapolis Public Schools and Lawrence Township. She earned her B.A. in English Education from IUPUI and her M.A. in Elementary Education from Ball State University. Kelly is currently licensed as a Reading Specialist for grades K-12. She has been trained in AP Literature/ Language and Composition, 6+1 Traits of Writing, Writing/Reading Workshop, Technology Infusion, Project Based Learning and Reading/Writing across the Curriculum. She is currently a teacher representative for the Project Based Learning initiative at her school and has hosted professional development activities covering Reading/Writing across the Curriculum. Kelly has also played an active role in several curriculum development committees and has assisted with the development of online high school courses.

Danielle Broadus
Danielle Broadus is a teacher at the Pike Freshman Center (PFC) in Indianapolis, IN. In her 8 years of teaching, she has taught US History, World History, and World Geography. She is currently teaching AP World History and World Geography. She received her Bachelors degree in Secondary Education from IUPUI and finished her Masters in Educational Leadership from IUPUI as well. In addition to her to her teaching duties, she is also the PFC Academy Leader and is co-coordinator of the Pike Mentor Program. She loves to travel and has been to 5 countries and 15+ states. Her goal is to visit 6 out of 7 continents and all 50 states.

Heather Burford
Heather Burford is an English teacher for ACCES Alternative School in Decatur, Indiana instructing grades 6-12. In addition to teaching for the North Adams Community School District, Heather facilitates GED courses two evenings per week, participates in after school tutoring, and is the Speech Coach for Bellmont High School. She also serves as both a traditional and online composition instructor and English tutor for Ivy Tech Community College in Marion, Indiana. She has an Associates of Arts Degree and a Bachelors Degree in English from The Ohio State University and a Masters Degree in Teaching English Education from Muskingum College. She is currently pursuing a Doctorate in Teacher Leadership from Walden University. Heather holds active teaching licenses in both Indiana and Ohio. Originally from Zanesville, Ohio, she now resides in Fort Wayne, Indiana with her husband Chris of 11 years and her three children, Chloe (11 ), Kristian (8), and Caleb (5).

Cynthia Burton-Cottrell
Cindy Cottrell graduated with her Bachelor's from Indiana University-Bloomington in 1990. She went on to receive her Master's at California State University-Northridge in 1992. Upon returning to Indiana in 1992, she taught for two years in the Indianapolis Public School System at Thomas Edison Middle School #47. She was then offered a math teaching position with Wayne Township schools and has been there ever since. She taught high school math for 12 years at Ben Davis. Cindy then decided to return to middle school and is currently in her fourth year of teaching at the Lynhurst 7th and 8th Grade Center where she also resides as the math department chair. For the past 18 years, Cindy has always been dedicated to her students and truly has a passion for teaching and learning. Cindy is the proud mother of three. TJ, Cyndahl, and Trai. When she is not teaching, she enjoys supporting and watching her children in their sporting activities. In addition, she also enjoys exercising, spending time with friends and family, and "hanging out" with their miniature schnauzer--Joee Blu!

Jannine Campbell
Jannine Campbell is an English teacher at Pike High School, where she has been teaching for the past 11 years. She has taught quite a few different levels of English and even started an Ethnic Literature course at Pike that focuses on literature written by and about African-Americans and Latinos. She received her bachelor's degree from Indiana University-Bloomington in Secondary English Education, and she recently completed her master's degree in Educational Leadership at IUPUI. She is an avid lifelong learner who hopes to begin work on a doctorate degree soon. This year she was selected as Butler University's Master Practitioner, a position she will hold for the next two years as a collegiate instructor for future educators. She is married to Jayson Campbell and together they have a daughter, Jaymeson. She enjoys reading, traveling, and scrapbooking and dreams of one day adopting more children.

Jeff Carter
Jeff Carter graduated from Marian University with a degree in Spanish and Secondary Education in 2001. After graduation, he began teaching Spanish at Clay Middle School in Carmel, IN for sixth, seventh, and eighth grade students. He is currently finishing his ninth year of teaching and coaching basketball and track at Clay. During his time at Clay, Jeff has earned two Masters Degree s in Secondary Education and Adult and Community Education through Ball State University. Outside of school, Jeff is married and has two daughters whose ages are four and seven. He enjoys spending time with his family, exercising, and fishing.

Rebecca Cash
Rebecca Cashhas taught at Lawrence North High School for twelve years. She received her BA from Purdue University and her masters in English from National Universitys accredited online program. Her thesis centered on Mary Shelleys Frankenstein and the present water imagery. She has taught for Ivy Tech and scored the SAT. Both of these experiences have given her an excellent understanding of the expectations for college level writing. Mrs. Cash is married to an active duty National Guardsman, and together they have two small boys.

Jay Chambers
Jay Chambers has been teaching and coaching in Indiana since 1978. He is a graduate of Ohio University, earning his Bachelors and Masters Degrees in Education. Jay currently coaches swimming at Fishers High School. He is married, the father of 4 girls and has 5 grandchildren.

John Ciano
A graduate from Penn State University, John lived and taught Physical Education in New Jersey for four years before moving out to Indiana. John is in his second year teaching Physical Education at Our Lady of Mount Carmel. John also coaches volleyball for Carmel Volleyball Club and softball for Carmel High School.

Adam Clark
A graduate from Penn State University, John lived and taught Physical Education in New Jersey for four years before moving out to Indiana. Angela Compton
Angela Compton is a graduate of Indiana University with a major in Spanish and a minor in French in 1984. She earned her Masters degree in Secondary Education in 1989 at IUPUI. She began her teaching career near Cincinnati, then taught in Washington Township, Carmel Clay Schools, and is currently teaching Honors I Spanish at Fishers Jr. High School. While teaching in Washington Township she led several student trips to Mexico, and assisted as chaperone for trips to Quebec, Canada as well. Her interests are travel, experiencing different cultures and foods, yoga, living a healthy lifestyle, and spending time with her family. She has lived in Carmel for the last sixteen years with her husband and two sons, the oldest attending Indiana University and the youngest in culinary school in Louisville.

John Corcoran
John Corcoran Jr. has been teaching Health and Physical Education for seven years in the Carmel Clay School district. After graduating from Butler University with a Bachelors Degree in Secondary Education and a minor in Health and Safety Education, he went on to play professional baseball for the Seattle Mariners. Upon retiring from baseball he began his teaching career at Westfield High School until he settled into his current position of teaching Wellness at Clay Middle School. John has a masters degree in Sports Administration from Ball State University. John and his wife are proud parents of 20 month old triplet boys.

Melody Coryell
Melody Coryellis the proud mother of two girls and lives in Fishers, Indiana with her girls, husband, and cats Buckley and Scout. She teaches English and serves as the International Baccalaureate Program Coordinator at Lawrence North High School in Indianapolis. Melody's undergraduate degrees from Ball State University are in history and English, and she has completed graduate work at IUPUI in the areas of English education, higher education administration, creative writing, and informatics.

David Cupp
David Cupp is currently employed as a teacher at Decatur Central High School in Indianapolis. He has been employed for 6 years at Decatur Central. He has also worked at Ben Davis High School in Indianapolis, and Milledgeville High School in Milledgeville, IL. In 2001 Mr. Cupp received his Bachelor Degree from Ball State University, and in 2006 received his Master Degree from Olivet Nazarene University. He is married to Terri, and they have one son, Noah, and a new baby due in September!!!!

Brent Dawes
Brent Dawes has been teaching for five years and is in his second year at Ben Davis Ninth Grade Center. He received his Bachelor of Arts degree in Physical Education from Purdue University in West Lafayette in 2000. Brent is working towards his Masters in Special Education at IUPUI. Brent has also been a police officer for three years in Speedway, Indiana. He is married to his beautiful wife of ten years, Heather, and has three children: Jacob, 6, Jeremy, 2, and Juliana, 1. He is a very active person at 36-years-old belonging to a cycling team and competing in bike races throughout the year. Brent also gets up at 4 AM to workout several days a week. Brent is the director of the Bret Neylons Race to Recovery 5K run/walk which benefits the Bret Neylon Paralysis Foundation. He is also the vice president on the board of directors to this foundation. Brent was awarded the Presidents Volunteer Service Award in 2008 for his hours of civic participation. His hobbies include running, playing golf, fishing, spending time with his wife, and teaching his kids to ride bikes.

Brad DeHoff
Brad DeHoff is entering his seventh year of teaching 7th and 8th grade science at Plainfield Community Middle School. He received his Bachelor of Science degree in Biochemistry from Indiana University in 1984 and furthered his studies by earning a Master of Science degree in Biochemistry from the University of Illinois in 1986. While at the University of Illinois, he taught both the lecture and lab sections for the introductory chemistry/biology course for students seeking degrees in nursing, veterinary medicine and pharmacy. Brad worked two years as a research scientist in the microbiology department at the University of Illinois before working as a molecular biologist for a large, pharmaceutical company in Indianapolis. One of his most significant accomplishments was working on the team that located and sequenced the DNA of the hereditable breast cancer gene, BRCA1. In addition, he helped sequence the entire genome of the bacteria Streptococcus pneumoniae, the organism that causes bacterial pneumonia. In 2002, Brad obtained his teaching certification in secondary education at IUPUI with his primary license in chemistry and biology along with a computer endorsement. He also teaches an educational computing class as an adjunct instructor at IUPUI. At Plainfield, Brad has coached two state championship science teams and helped coach one state champion interdisciplinary team in the Jr. Academic Super Bowl competition. He received the Optimist Teacher of the Year Award for his school in 2005 and won the Innovative Middle School Science Teacher Award from the Hoosier Association of Science Teachers, Inc. (H.A.S.T.I.) in 2006. Brad is currently the Middle School Director on the Board of H.A.S.T.I. He teaches the Chemistry I-1 and I-2 courses for the IOA. Brad enjoys going with his wife and three boys to amusements parks each summer.

Stephen SR Drabyn
Stephen Drabyn has a degree in Physical Education and Health with minors in Math and Biology with a computer programming and coaching endorsement from Indiana University in 1978. Steve has a Masters in Secondary Education from IU. He is currently at Avon High School and teaches Honors Geometry, Honors Algebra 2 and Regular Geometry while teaching summer school P.E. Steve is also an Adjunct Math teacher for Ivy Tech and teaches an adult Algebra class on Wednesday nights during the school year. He is also the Varsity Girls Basketball Coach and Varsity Girls Golf Coach. Steve is married to Cathy of 32 years and has four children: Christopher, a band teacher at Avon; Stephen Jr. a teacher and coach at Carmel; Kristina, graduate assistant for the Texas Tech womens basketball program and Aimee, a sophomore at Holy Family University in Philadelphia.

Stephen Drabyn Jr
Steve Drabyn Jr. is a Physical Education/Health Teacher at Carmel High School in Carmel, Indiana. He has completed 2 years at Carmel High School, 1 year at Avon Intermediate School in Avon, Indiana, and has coached basketball collegiately for 3 years. Stephen received his High School diploma at LaPorte High School in LaPorte, Indiana and his undergraduate bachelor's degree in Physical Education at Belmont University in Nashville, Tennessee in 2004. He is currently pursuing his masters degree in Curriculum and Instruction at University of Indianapolis. Steve will be getting married June 19th this summer. He enjoys watching and playing basketball, working out, reading, and playing cards. His father, Steve Drabyn Sr., also teaches with Indiana Online Academy, and he has several other family members who have chosen teaching as their profession. Teaching and Coaching is in his blood and he truly enjoys it. He wants to help students understand the importance of physical fitness, health, and nutrition. It is his hope that his students will develop a lifelong love of wanting to be healthy.

Ginnette Dunwell
Ginnette Dunwellhas taught in the Lawrence Township district for 8 years. She received her Secondary Education Mathematics degree from Grace College in 1994. She also is a graduate of the PEAK institute for Effective Instruction and Assessment. Currently she is teaching Geometry and Algebra 1 for Lawrence North High School. Ginnette is currently an assistant coach for the Lawrence North Mens Basketball team. Ginnette lives on the far eastside with her son, J.R., whose is 14. In her free time she enjoys reading, sports, working in the yard, and spending time with her family and friends.

Diana Eckert
Diana Eckert is in her 21th year of teaching mathematics. She began her career at Franklin Township Middle School teaching 7th and 8th grade math. After two years, she transferred to Franklin Central High School. She has taught Algebra I and II, Geometry and Discrete for the past 16 years. This year she took the opportunity to go back to middle school teaching 8th grade math in 80 minute blocks. The original middle school split into two middle schools, and she is in the brand new middle school, Franklin Township Middle School East. She loves doing lots of activities to help her students enjoy and understand math better. Her passion is teaching other teachers different hands on techniques and strategies to add more tools to their teaching toolboxes, which in turn helps their students.Diana has been married for 20 years and has 3 very busy boys, who attend Center Grove schools. Jake is her 8th grader. He is a great swimmer, who enjoys playing soccer and basketball. Luke is in 2nd grade, and enjoys making brilliant crosses in soccer and loves playing basketball. Cole is 5 years old, and is in his first year playing soccer. This past fall she had 3 boys playing soccer, and their father coached two of the teams. As you can tell her family loves soccer, and yes, she is a typical soccer mom intense with high expectations.Besides being on the sidelines at her boys soccer games, she loves to read, exercise, listen to music, and spend time with her boys, her husband and her girlfriends.

Christopher Eckstein
Christopher Eckstein teaches English 9 Grammar & Technical Composition, Honors 9 English, and Honors 12 English (British Literature) at Batesville High School. He attended Oakland City University and graduated with a 4.0 GPA in his content area. While at OCU, Eckstein received the distinguished awards Student Teacher of the Year and Excellence in English Education. Eckstein acted as the editorial assistant for the Journal for the Liberal Arts & Sciences for three years before moving to Batesville, Indiana. Christopher has been married to his wife, Aimee, for seven years. He is the father of two small children, Lillian who is six and Braden who is five. In his spare time, Eckstein enjoys hiking, reading, spending time with his family, and cutting the lawn.

Steve Emerson
Steve Emerson has been teaching mathematics for thirteen years at the Junior High and High School levels. After graduating from Purdue University with a Bachelors Degree in Mathematics, he taught Pre-Algebra and Algebra for two years at Northwest High School. During six years at Carmel Middle School he taught I-STEP remediation, seventh grade Mathematics, Pre-Algebra and Honors Algebra 1. While at Carmel he also served as one of the building technology coordinators. Steve completed his Masters Degree in Instructional Technology from IUPUI in 2005. He currently teaches Pre-Calculus, Statistics, and Discrete Math at Fishers High School. Steve has been married for 13 years to his wife Jennifer and they have a third grade daughter named Abby and a son named Sam who is in the first grade.

Amy Emkow
Amy Emkow graduated from Indiana University Purdue University of Indianapolis where she earned a Bachelors of Science. She later attended Indiana Wesleyan University where she earned her Masters of Education. She has taught Physical Education and Health for the last 11 years. She is passionate about sharing with her students the importance of mental, physical and social health for a fruitful life.

Edward Faughnan
Edward Faughnan has been teaching Physical Education and Wellness for the past 13 years. He is currently working towards a masters in education, with a completion date of July 7th, 2010.
Edward is a licensed mentor for beginning teachers. He is on the program council representing Middle Schools throughout Indiana for Indiana Association for Health, Physical Education, Recreation and Dance.
Edward is the head 7th grade football and baseball coach at Avon Middle School North. He is also a volunteer youth coach for the West District YMCA.
Edward is married to Kim and has two son's, Blake (8) and Curtis (6).

David Ferrell
Dave Ferrell, an 11-year social studies teacher, currently serves as the Universal Design for Learning Coach for the Lebanon Community School Corporation. He has taught a number of courses including economics, government, United States history and gerography. He is married to Phyllis, his wife of 13 years, and has two sons, Lucas (8) and Jackson (3).

April Finley
April Finley was born and raised in Ithaca, New York but has lived in Indiana since graduating from Taylor University with a B.S. in English Education in 2005. She received her Masters degree in English from the University of Indianapolis in 2009, and next year will be her sixth year of teaching. April has taught all grades and levels of high school English, including AP Literature. She is an adjunct faculty member of dual-credit composition and literature classes through Vincennes University as well. April lives with her husband (Peter) and dog (Toby), and enjoys reading, scrapbooking, and being in nature in her free time.

Tonya Fisher
Tonya Fisher is in her 10th year of teaching English at Lawrence North High School and has taught grades 9-12. She received a BA from Indiana University and a MA in Education with a focus on technology from IUPUI. She and her husband have two small children, a boy and a girl.

Cindy Franklin
Cindy Franklin graduated from Ball State University with a degree in Spanish and Secondary Education. She earned her Masters Degree from Indiana Wesleyan University. She joined the Speedway High School faculty in 1990 and has enjoyed working there for the past 20 years. During that time, she has had the opportunity to teach levels I-V of Spanish. Cindy has also taught Spanish as an adjunct professor for Ivy Tech. Cindy joined the team at IOA in 2007 and has designed the course for both Spanish 1 and Spanish 2. She is an active member of Indiana Foreign Languages Teachers Association.Cindy and her husband are blessed to have three wonderful children. She enjoys spending time with her family, reading, relaxing and vacationing whenever possible.

Susan Frantsi
Susan Frantsiis the science department chairperson at Perry Meridian High School. She currently teaches biology, chemistry 1 and chemistry 2. In addition to her regular teaching assignments, she is a part time faculty member at University of Indianapolis and Ivy Tech and IU at Bloomington. She graduated with a bachelors degree in chemistry from Indiana University and a biology teaching major and a Masters of Education from Indiana University. She has been teaching for 25 years in public education. In the summer she teaches swimming lessons. She is the proud mother of three children ; her son is a sheriffs deputy; her daughters are currently in college. In her spare time she loves outdoor activities of hiking, canoeing and sailing.

Katie Gallagher
Katie Gallagher has been teaching for 13 years, both in the traditional classroom, online, and in blended environments, primarily A.P. Psychology and Economics. She has created and taught numerous courses over the last nine years at Cathedral High School, in Indianapolis, IN; the Indiana Online Academy; and for the Johns Hopkins University Center for Talented Youth Distance Education Program. She earned her B.A. in Psychology including two years of undergraduate research at the University of Notre Dame graduating Magna Cum Laude and her M.S. in Educational Technology from Indiana University. In addition to teaching online, she supervised and mentored other online teachers at Johns Hopkins and she has trained faculty across the U.S. to use learning management systems. As a teacher, she has presented at numerous K12 conferences including the Indiana Computer Educators' Conference in 2006; the Indiana Non-Public Education Conference in 2004; the ANGEL Users Conference in Indianapolis in 2007, at Michigan State University in 2004, in Indianapolis in 2007, in Cincinnati in 2008, and in Chicago in 2009; the Indiana High School Psychology Teachers' Association Conference in 2002, 2004, and 2007; the Ohio Catholic Education Association Conference 2003; and the Indiana University School of Education: Learning to Teach/ Teaching to Learn Conference in 1997. Nationally, she presented at the National Educational Computing Conference in Atlanta, Georgia in 2007 and in San Diego, California in 2006 and at the Virtual School Symposium in Austin, Texas in 2009. An evaluation of her 2006 NECC presentation was featured in the September 2006 issue of the national publication "eSchool News," a print newspaper read by more than 180,000 school leaders. While she continues to teach online for the Indiana Online Academy, she currently serves as a K12 Solutions Engineer with Blackboard, helping schools and teachers understand how Blackboard and the ANGEL LMS can help them improve teaching and learning and meet their needs. In 2004, she co-chaired Cathedral's successful committee using technology to apply for national "Catholic Schools for Tomorrow Award" from Today's Catholic Teacher Magazine. In 2007, she was honored by Indianapolis Power and Light as one of 26 teachers in the central Indiana area for creatively using technology in the classroom with a Golden Apple Award.

Tom Gallagher
Tom Gallagher was born on the southwest side of Chicago in Bolingbrook, Illinois. Before finishing grade school, he moved to Carmel, Indiana, where he was fortunate enough to be a member of the 1993 State Championship Cross Country Team. Later that year, he finished his high school track career by placing 7th in the 300 meter hurdles at the State Meet and setting a new school record. Tom earned a degree in Science Education, with an emphasis on Math Education, from the University of Indianapolis. While attending college, he started his coaching career by being the head boys' and girls' cross country teams at Clay Junior High in Carmel. After filling a maternity leave teaching a semester of Physics at Carmel High School, he got his first real position teaching 8th grade math, science, and physical education. After a year of teaching in Carmel, Tom became the Algebra I teacher at Cathedral High School. Currently, he is teaching only Geometry there and is the IOA Geometry teacher as well. Tom treats his classroom like his track team, EFFORT = RESULTS. You can only achieve by trying your best.

Kelly Gamble
Kelly Gamble has been teaching Physical Education and Health since 1989. She received her Bachelor's degree from Butler University. She is currently teaching at Avon High School where she coached Volleyball for 10 years and currently is the director of the AIM program which is a student mentoring program at Avon where Junior and Senior students mentor freshman students. She grew up on the west side of Indianapolis and graduated from Ben Davis High School. Kelly is married to Rick Gamble and they have three beautiful children that keep her very busy. Her hobbies are camping, hiking, running and spending time with her family.

Phillip Glasser
Phil Glasser is in his 24th year of teaching in Perry Township. He graduated from the University of Indianapolis in 1987 with a BS in Mathematics and Physical Education. Phil was a two time letter winner and Great Lakes Valley Conference Champion while a member of the Greyhound wrestling team. He has coached football and wrestling in Perry Township since 1984. Phil was named teacher of the year at Perry Meridian Middle School in 2000. He was the Lead Teacher at the Alternative Education Program where is was also selected as teacher of the year in 2004. Phil enjoys working out with his students and athletes while trying to teach them lifelong health and fitness habits. He is currently teaching Physical Education and Health at Perry Meridian Middle School. Phil is a retired Staff Sergeant in the Indiana National Guard. He has been married to his lovely wife Julie for 25 years. They are the proud parents of three children, Phillip, Hannah, and Mary. Phil is very excited to join the IOA team this summer.

George Grubbs
George Grubbs is in his 33rd year of teaching and is currently teaching Geometry and Algebra 2 at Jennings County High School. He taught for 23 years in Illinois before moving to Indiana. He has a Bachelors degree from Greenville College in Illinois and received his Masters in Educational Administration from Southern Illinois University at Edwardsville. He has also coached boys' varsity basketball in both states and has over 300 wins to his credit. George lives in North Vernon with his wife Penny and their two children, Jared and Alisha, both Pharmacy majors at Butler University.

Staci Guimond
Staci Guimond has been teaching Mathematics for thirteen years at Pike High School where she has taught courses ranging from Pre-Algebra to Pre-Calculus. She earned her Bachelors degree at IUPUI and her Masters from Indiana Wesleyan University. She is a member of ICTM and has been teaching on-line courses, after school, at Pike for the past two years. Over the course of her career Staci has also taught Math classes for IUPUI and IVY Tech as an adjunct instructor. She lives in Indianapolis with her husband and three children.

Brittanie Hacker
Brittanie Hacker graduated from the University of Indianapolis in 2002 with a BA in Spanish Education. She teaches Spanish at Guion Creek Middle School in Pike Township and is also the 7th and 8th grade cheerleading coach. This is her first year teaching for the IOA. Shelly Haley
Shelly Haley has been an educator since 1978. She has taught elementary physical education as well as high school physical education and health before moving into school administration. Shelly coached volleyball, basketball and track for Edinburgh schools. She coached volleyball for twelve years at Center Grove High School. She was athletic director at Pike High School for nine years and is now retiring as Principal of Lincoln Middle School in Pike Township. Shelly received the National Sportsmanship Award from the National Federation of High School Sports. She received her undergraduate degree from Purdue University and her Masters from Butler University. Her main hobbies are golfing, biking and camping.

Samuel Hanley
Sam has been teaching English at Southport High School since 2002. Summer 2010 is his first term with Indiana Online Academy. He attended Perry Meridian before moving south to Bloomington for his college years. He graduated from Indiana University with bachelors degrees in English Education and Journalism. Sam also holds a master's degree in education leadership from UIndy. He has enjoyed moving back to his hometown of Indianapolis, where he has taught AP Language and Composition, yearbook journalism, American Literature, and a variety of other language arts courses. He is currently the English department co-chair at Southport.
Sam is proud to call Perry Township his home! He lives with his two dogs: an American Foxhound named Vixen and and English Setter named Opie. In his spare time he enjoys traveling, reading, cooking, golf, and watching baseball. Go Yanks!

Chad Heck
Chad Heckis a technology integrator for MSD of Pike Township. He has experience teaching mathematics, computer science, and is also a licensed media specialist. Mr. Heck has a Bachelor of Science in mathematics and computer science from Manchester College and a Master of Library Science from Indiana University. Chad is a member of Indiana Computer Educators, the Association of Indiana Media Educators, and the Computer Science Teacher Association. He lives with his gigantic dog Ruby and enjoys playing video games a little bit too much.

Heather Henry
Heather Henry has been a teacher and athletic director at Lincoln Middle School, MSD of Pike Township for the last ten years. She earned her Bachelor's Degree in Physical Education from Southern Illinois University at Edwardsville and her Master's Degree in Curriculum Development from Indiana Wesleyan University. Over the years she has had the opportunity to teach physical education, health and wellness. She currently mentors 8th grade students in PHASE which is a class designed to prepare students for higher education. Heather plays an active role on the schools leadership team, is the Wellness Coordinator, and was Lincoln Middle School's 2008 Teacher of the Year.

Greg Hill
Greg Hillattended Ball State University earning a degree in Exercise Science in 1987. After spending a couple interesting years working as a Fitness Director for a club in Anderson, IN, Greg returned to Ball State to get his teaching degree in 1990 completing degrees in Physical Education and teaching minors in U.S. History and Biology a year and a half later. As fate would have it, Greg would actually spend his first six years of teaching, teaching high school emotionally and behaviorally challenged high school students, leading to the completion of a Masters degree in Special Education in 1996. Two years later Mr. Hill was hired by Triton Central High School in Shelby County, Indiana where he has taught science at the middle and high school as well as being the middle school and high school Library Media Specialist. Along with his wife Rhonda the Director of Technology for Triton Central schools, and his two teenage daughters Kylie and Makaela, Greg and his family are very involved in many activities at the school. While at Triton Central Greg has coached several sports including; baseball, basketball, football, cross country and track. Greg is in his fourth summer of teaching online courses, having taught Biology and Physical Education.

Sarah Holland was born and raised in Evansville and has been teaching Earth/Space Science for 4 years, the last three at Avon High School. As a former Air Force spouse and mother of three, she attended Ball State University and the University of Arizona before graduating from University of Nevada-Las Vegas in 2006. She plans to begin her grad work toward a Masters in Educational Technology this fall.
Sarah enjoys spending her time with her husband of 12 years, her 10 year old son, 8 and 6 year old daughters, 2 dogs, 2 cats and three turtles at her home in Plainfield, IN.

Shelly Horvath graduated from the University of Indianapolis with a Bachelors degree in l984 and received her Masters degree in l989. She is certified by the National Board for Professional Teaching Standards, and is also a graduate of the Teacher Leadership Academy and the Indiana Principal Leadership Academy. Shelly teaches senior English at Franklin Central High School. In addition, she is an adjunct faculty member at the University of Indianapolis where she teaches Western World Literature 101, and she also teaches composition and literature at the University of Indianapolis for the School for Adult Learning.She has been an English teacher with the Indiana Online Academy since its beginning. Shelly has been married to her husband Drew for 26 years and they have three daughters. They enjoy attending sporting events, traveling, and spending time with each family.

Virginia Hudson
Virginia Hudson is a full-time English teacher at Franklin Central High School. She has been teaching for more than 30 years, during which her subject area has been mainly American literature. It is one of her passions. She is married, also for more than 30 years, and has one son who lives on the East Coast. Most of her spare time involves reading and needlepoint. Ruth Hurrle has been teaching since 1996. After graduating from Purdue University, she taught high school science at Perry Meridian High School, and after getting a second degree in mathematics, she moved to Roncalli High School to teach math. She spent 8 years at Speedway Junior High School teaching science. After getting a Masters in Educational Administration from Indiana University in 2003, she became a Dean of Students at Columbus North High School in Columbus, IN. She is married and has two amazing boys who are 7 and 8 years old. In her spare time, Mrs. Hurrle enjoys working outdoors and running marathons.

Lizz Jarchow
Lizz Jarchow graduated from Yale University in 1999 with an English degree and a teaching license. After deciding to move closer to family, she found herself in Indianapolis at Southport High School as a first year English teacher and soccer coach. While teaching, Lizz completed her master's degree in Administrative Education through Indiana University and moved on to Dean of Students at Southport High School during the 2006-2007 school year. The following year, Lizz moved to Assistant Principal in the same high school and is currently enjoying the challenges and successes in that office. Lizz lives under the Carpe Diem mentality by seizing every opportunity of every day to help with the educational journey of students while furthering her own educational growth through these experiences.

Andrew Johnson
Andrew Johnson is entering his 17th year of teaching at Avon High School, west of Indianapolis. He received his bachelors degree in Economics and English from Indiana University in 1989. After several years in the business world, he went back to receive his certification in teaching from IUPUI in 1994. In 2001, he received his Masters in Education from Olivet-Nazarene University. He spent the first eight years of his career at Avon High School as an English teacher, spending three of those years as an adjunct lecturer for Indiana University. He now teaches Economics, AP Microeconomics, and AP Macroeconomics and is the Department Chairperson of the Social Studies department. His other duties at school include the chairperson of the School Improvement Team and Intramural Sports Director. He also owned a construction service, which he ran during the summer months, for several years. He has been married to Christine, a Social Studies teacher at Ben Davis High School, since 1990. They have three children and enjoy the summers camping and traveling. His hobbies include running, biking, fishing, and hunting.

Chasidy Kannianen has an undergraduate degree from Indiana University. This summer she will be completing her Masters Degree in Curriculum and Instruction with a Technology focus. She has taught in Wayne Township since 2002, and is currently the English Department Chair and 7th grade teacher at the Lynhurst 7th and 8th Grade Center. When not busy with job or school responsibilities, she loves spending time with family and friends, reading, shopping and going on vacations. She has two awesome sons (ages 4 and 10), two crazy dogs (Boston Terriers) and has been married to her husband for 5 years. She is currently reading the Confessions of a Shopaholic series, written by Sophie Kinsella. While vacationing in the Caribbean earlier this year, she went snorkeling and on a Zip-line for the first time. This summer she is looking forward to teaching you while vacationing in the mountains!

Nikki Knight
Nikki Knight has been a science teacher at Perry Meridian High School for the last 8 years, with 3 years of experience teaching Biology at Decatur Central High School before that. Nikki received both her undergraduate and masters degrees from Miami University. During her time at Miami she participated on the schools Basketball and Track teams; she was captain of the Basketball team her senior year. Nikki is also a graduate of the CIESC Teacher Leadership Academy Group 14. At PMHS, Nikki teaches all first year biology, at 3 different levels: Honors, College Prep, and Regular. She has also coached for the volleyball and track programs while at Perry. Nikki is married to her husband Brian who is an assistant principal at PMHS, and they have 3 children: Dagan (6), Stokes (4), and Auria (2), and one more due in June. IOA is a family tradition as her parents: Chris and Libby Lawrie and her aunt: Kate Lawrie all teach in the PE and health department.

Sara Kohne
Sara Kohne has enjoyed being an English teacher for eight years, spending seven of those years teaching at Southport High School. At SHS, she is the co-department chair and serves her fellow teachers as a building representative. She received her Bachelors degree in English and Criminal Justice and Masters degree in English Education from Indiana University Bloomington in 1997 and 2002. Sara enjoys conducting teacher research projects in her classes and takes pride in presenting her studies at local, state, national, and international conferences. Sara is looking forward to another terrific summer spending time with family and friends, being outside as much as possible, reading and writing, and teaching for the second summer at IOA.

Lisa Laker
Lisa Laker has been teaching all levels of English at Franklin Central High School in Indianapolis for over 15 years, and this is her second summer with Indiana Online Academy. She is a Teaher Leadership Academy graduate and has been a facilitator for the program; in addition, Mrs. Laker has won numerous teaching grants including the Lilly Teacher Creativity Grant to Greece, Indiana University WEST Studies Travel Abroard Grant, Teaching Tolerance Peace Garden Project Grant and the John Wooden Excellence in Education Grant. Mrs. Laker loves to travel and experience historical art and theater---this year she traveled to the Netherlands, Belgium, Italy, France, and England! Mrs. Laker's husband is also an educator, and they have two, young daughters of which they are very proud.

Tanya Lawalin
Tanya Lawalin is relatively new to teaching. She spent the early part of her professional life working as a paralegal, while she put herself through night school to earn her English degree. She received her Bachelors degree from I.U.P.U.I. and later received her teaching license from Indiana Wesleyan University. She has been teaching English for two years at Ben Davis Extended Day School the online night school. She has worked with Angel creating numerous classes for Ben Davis. Mrs. Lawalin is married and has 6 children, the oldest of which is about to graduate from Ben Davis in June. Her other children range from ages 8-13, and are very active in Wayne Township. Her interests include reading (her favorite books being the Harry Potter series and the Twilight series), bowling, playing Farmville, and keeping up with her family and friends on Facebook.

Chris Lawrie
Chris Lawriehas been teaching for 33 years in Decatur Township as a health and Physical Education teacher. Chris taught for 18 years at the elementary level at Lynwood Elementary, before moving to Decatur Middle School where he taught for 6 years before moving to the High school level. Chris has been a Varsity coach in Football and Track and Field and a wrestling coach at both the high school and middle school level. He has recently been named Head 9th Grade Football coach at Decatur Central.Chris is the proud father of 3 children, Nikki, Kevin, and Nate and is married to Libby Lawrie, who is also a teacher for IOA.Chris received his Undergraduate and Masters degrees from Indiana University.

Kate Lawrie
Kate Lawrie received her Bachelor of Science in Health, Physical Education and Driver Education in 1968 from Indiana University, and her Master of Science in Health in 1973, also from Indiana University. She taught Health and P.E. for 21 years at Manual High School in Indianapolis, where she also coached Volleyball, Basketball and Tennis. She taught for twelve more years at Paul I Miller School 114 in Indianapolis before retiring in 2002. Kate has been the head lifeguard at Garfield Park in Indianapolis where she also coached swimming and diving teams and taught swimming lessons. This will be her second year as IOA's lead Summer Session Health instructor.

Libby Lawrie
Libby Lawrie in her 31st year of teaching has a strong commitment to education, physical fitness and health. She spends many hours daily researching the best practices in virtual education. She has had the honor of being an IPALCO Golden Apple Recipient and Indiana Creative Biology Teacher of the Year. Libby attends and presents at conferences each year. Libby received her undergraduate degree from Indiana University and Masters Degree in Education from Butler University. She is also a former graduate and facilitator for the CIESC Teacher Leadership Academy. In her 31 years of teaching, 21 years were spent in the classroom teaching Biology, Science, Health and Physical Education and the last 10 teaching in the virtual environment with IOA. She is currently the Virtual Education Specialists for the MSD of Wayne Township. She is also an IUPUI professor in the Educational Technology Masters Program. She is also a proud mother of three and grandmother of three. Her daughter, Nicole Knight, a Miami of Ohio graduate, teaches Biology and is also an IOA Biology teacher. Her older son, Kevin, an IUPUI graduate, works with computer graphics and her youngest son, Nathan, is a Yale University graduate and Political Science Major who has played 5 years in the NFL and this year in the UFL for the California Redwoods. Her husband Chris has been a Physical Education and Health teacher in Decatur Township for 33 years. As you can see Libby is a life long learner and has a strong comment to see each student succeed.

Aaron Lunsford
Aaron Lunsford is finishing his 16th year teaching in Lawrence Township. He has spent the last 13 years in the MSD of Lawrence Township at Belzer Middle School teaching 8th grade math, including Pre-Algebra, Algebra and Geometry. He graduated from IU Bloomington in 1994 with a BS in Mathematics education and a computer Endorsement, and he completed his Masters Degree in Educational Technology from IUPUI in 2005. Aaron is also a certified Mentor and a Part of the ICT (Instructional Consultation Team) at Belzer. In the fall of 2009, Aaron was awarded the Raytheon Math Hero Award. He was 1 of 3 in the state of Indiana and 1 of 32 in the nation. His classes were a part of the WFYI documentary "A Penny Earned" in the spring of 2009, and for the past 6 years he has taken part in the Junior Achievement program Finance Park, which teaches students financial responsibility.

Kathy Madren
Kathy Madren graduated with a B.S. in Biology in 1987 from the University of Tennessee at Martin and later added a B.S. in Recreation Therapy in 1992 in lieu of becoming a Certified Recreation Therapist. After work in physical rehabilitation, marriage, and having two wonderful children, she returned to the work force as a teacher assistant in special education in North Carolina. She then performed the tasks needed to become a certified science teacher and taught all levels of Biology I and AP Environmental Science for 2 years in Charlotte, NC. A move with her husband's work brought her to Indianapolis where she has spent the last 5 years teaching Biology I and II, IB Biology-SL, and Zoology at Lawrence Central High School. She completed a teaching fellowship with The American Physiological Society in 2006 and has just recently completed her Master's in Education from IUPUI in December of 2009. She sponsors an environmental club at her school, tries to participate in as many of her children's school activities as she can, is active in her church, and enjoys long walks, hiking, biking and bird watching when she can.

He is currently at Columbus North High School and teaches AP Government, US History and World History. He is also the Varsity Asst Wrestling Coach. Dan is married to Brooke and has two children Noah 3 and Gabe 1.

Kate has been teaching English for 5 years now. She has taught English at all secondary grade levels (6-12) during that short time. She graduated from Indiana University in 2003 and is about to finish her masters degree from IU as well. In addition to teaching, she has coached cross country and cheerleading. She lives in Indianapolis with her husband Steve.

Jamie Martindale
Jamie Martindale has Bachelor's degrees from Purdue in Psychology and IUPUI in Education, with minors in Political Science and Economics. He also picked up a Masters degree in Business Management from Indiana Wesleyan in 1992, and is a committed lifelong learner. Jamie teaches AP Psychology and Economics at Pike H.S., and Government for the Indiana Online Academy. He is an adjunct faculty member in the Business department for Marian College, and author of five study guides for CLEP exams through Chancellors Learning Systems. Wife Kaelynn is a nurse, instructor, and artist, and children Tyler, Chris, and Emily are all on intriguing paths of their own. Jamie is a regular blood donor and hopes to write a collection of science fiction stories someday.

Donna McCord was born in Minot, North Dakota. At a very early age her family moved to Indiana and she has lived here ever since. She attended Carmel High School where she played tennis and then moved on to Ball State where she received both her undergraduate and her masters in Mathematics. She has taught at Lawrence North High School for 19 years. She is married to her husband Jim and they have four beautfiul children.

Chris Meguschar
Chris Meguschar currently teaches at Lawrence Central High School in Indianapolis. He has been in education for 20 years, with two years teaching English in Japan. The past 13 years have been spent at Lawrence Central where he teaches US Government and Japanese. Chris is also the co-chair for the World Language Department. He is married to the new principal at Clinton Central HS, Beth Meguschar and together they have 4 children. Chris graduated from Purdue University in 1990 with a History and Political Science major and is currently working on his Masters in East Asian Studies.

Janice Mitchener has taught mathematics at Carmel High School for 20 years. Previous to that, she taught for 7 years at Greenwood Community High School and Southern Wells Jr/Sr High. She currently teaches Honors Precalculus, Finite Math and AP Calculus AB, but has also taught Algebra I, Algebra II, and Geometry. Janices interest in graphing calculator technology in the classroom led her to become a Regional Instructor for the Teachers Teaching with Technology professional development organization. Janice received her BS in Mathematics Education from Purdue University and a MS in Secondary Education from IUPUI. Janice has been married to Paul for 27 years and has 4 children.

Jacqueline Morris
Jacqueline Morris has a Bachelor's of Science Degree in Mathematics from Indiana University, Bloomington and a Mater's Degree in Education from Indiana Wesleyan. She is a licensed Mathematics teacher for grades 5-12 and is currently teaching at a private facility for troubled youth in Lebanon, Indiana. She currently teaches 6th and 7th grade math, 2 pre-algebra courses (one at the middle school level, the other for high school students), 1 algebra course, and 1 algebra II. This is Jacqueline's 18th year of teaching, 11 years in the public school system and 7 years in the private sector. Jacqueline enjoys gardening during the summer months, reading whenever time permits, walking as a form of exercise, and traveling to adore and admire God's creation. Jacqueline is married (Willie) and has 2 sons (Josh & Zach).

Jennifer Muller is Social Studies teacher with four years of classroom experience at Pike Freshman Center. During the school year, she has taught World Geography and AP World History to ninth graders. Jennifer also taught Government in summer school to seniors. Jeffery Naas
Jeffery Naasis in his third year teaching special education at Carmel High school. After graduated from Indiana University with a degree in Kinesiology, he spent a few years in the business world before returning to IU to receive his degree in Physical Education and eventually a masters degree in Special Education. Jeff has taught students in every level of education: three years of elementary and two years of middle school in Pike Township and the last three years in his current position at Carmel High School. During his free time, Jeff enjoys doing outdoor activities with his wife and two children, as well as intently following the Hoosier football and basketball teams.

Alyssa Neal is a teacher at Zionsville High School. In her nine years there she has taught algebra I, algebra II, ICP, and biology. While at UIndy, she meet her husband Chad (also a teacher) when they both competed on the Track & Field team. Suzy Nielsen
Suzy Nielsen grew up on the Westside of Indianapolis and attended Ben Davis High School. She has been in education since 1977. She received her bacholors and masters from Indiana University. She taught Health, Physical Education, Drivers Education, and coached swimming at Noblesville Jr. High and High School for three years. Then, she went on to Ben Davis High School for fourteen years where she taught P.E., Health, Substance Abuse, and coached swimming for five years. Her swim team at Ben Davis won the state championship in 1980. She eventually moved on to Pike High School in 1994 where she has been a counselor since. She has two children, and her hobbies include boating, water skiing, swimming, reading, and exercising.

Ryan Osborn
Ryan is entering his 5th year of teaching at Avon High School. He is the physical education/health department chair and has taught health, advanced health, advanced physical conditioning, and physical fitness classes. Ryan is also the boy's varsity assistant basketball coach. He was a member of the men's basketball team at IUPUI where he earned his bachelors degree in physical education with a minor in health. In 2009 he completed his Master's degree in Human Movement with a concentration in Sports Conditioning from A.T. Still University. Ryan's wife, Megan, is a physcial education/health teacher and soccer coach in Brownsburg. Together they have a 5 year-old daughter, Ryan, and a second child due in June.

During her spare time, she enjoys going to the movies and visiting with friends.

Justin Pattenhas earned his BAE from the Herron School of Art at IUPUI in 2005. Justin has been teaching elementary art at Indian Creek in Lawrence Township for the past four years. Justin meet his wife Rachel while working at Indian Creek. They now live in Zionsville, IN with their son Lyle. Justin spends his summers playing Vintage Baseball for the Indianapolis Hoosiers.

William Pavlovsky
Max Pavlovsky has just completed his 4th year of teaching mathematics. He brings a wealth of real-world engineering and computer experience into the classroom as he seeks to help students see how math connects to everyday life. Max earned his degree in Electrical Engineering from Georgia Tech. His extensive knowledge of mathematics was proven early in his life when he earned the Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute Math and Science Award as being the top junior student in his high school in both math and science. He has taught Pre-Algebra, Algebra 1, Algebra 2, Geometry, Pre-Calculus, and Calculus. Max has a passion for helping students succeed and for using a variety of methods (such as technology) to do so. Max and his wife Stacy (a teacher in the Carmel school district) live in Westfield and have two school-age children.

Kelly and her husband, Eric, live in Greenwood and have two daughters Abigail (4) and Emily (3). During the summer Kelly teaches Vacation Bible School and travels. Linda Roepke
Linda Roepke is a retired teacher from Perry Township in Indianapolis. She received her bachelor's degree from Ball State University and her master's degree from Indiana University. She taught both health and physical education for 34 years, spending most of her time in middle school. She coached freshman volleyball, 8th grade basketball, 7th and 8th grade track, and was a volunteer varsity golf assistant, all at different times during her teaching career. She was also a member of the scouting team for the 1981 Southport High School girls' basketball champions. She was a teacher of the year nominee in 2000-2001 and received the Life Member PTA award in 2003. She loves to play golf and spend time with her golden retriever, Ashley.

Gretchen Shafer graduated from Ball State University with a Bachelors degree in Physiology and Health Science and a Masters degree in Sport Administration. She teaches health and physical education at Fishers High School where she also serves and the department chair for Physical Education, Health and Nutrition. Before becoming a teacher Gretchen was an Aquatics Director at a YMCA in Indianapolis. Gretchen has three children, Ashleigh lives in Chicago, Jordan lives in Denver, and Jon is a senior in high school.

Erik Shaver
Erik Shaver is a native Hoosier who has grown up and lived in Indianapolis his entire life. After attending Perry Meridian High School and graduating in 2005, he earned a scholarship to attend Wabash College where he was a three year lettermen and starter on the Little Giant football team. Erik has been teaching since the Fall of 2009 and currently teaches Government, American History, World History, Psychology, and Economics for the Ben Davis High School Extended Day program while helping to write programs for the ANGEL based learning experience. Eriks wife, Christine, is currently a graduate student at Indiana University. Erik enjoys coaching football for Perry Meridian, playing baseball, football, and hockey, and following the Colts, Pacers, and Reds with undying passion!

Amy Shipley
Amy Shipley teaches English at Hamilton Southeastern High School and has been there for 8 years. Prior to that, she taught at Zionsville High School. She earned a bachelors degree from Ball State University and completed her Masters degree at Indiana University. Amy loves to read, exercise, attend athletic events (especially her childrens), scrapbook and travel. Her husband is the principal of an intermediate school, and they have two children. Their son, Shaun is 8. Much like Amy and her husband, he enjoys all athletics. Their daughter, Shay is 6, and loves everything in life. They have two dogs, an 80 pound black Bouvier des Flanders, Simba, and a 2 year old Shih Tzu, Dusty.

Mr. Simmons is starting his second summer as a member of the IOA faculty. Last summer he taught Summer PE. Mr. Simmons is currently the Dean of Students at Hamilton Heights High School. Prior to taking over those responsibility he was the Health and Physical Education Department Chair at Ben Davis High School. Mr. Simmons taught Health and PE at Ben Davis High School for two years. Mr. Simmons graduated from Miami University with a degree in Physical Education and Health. He is passionate about fitness and seeing young people lead a healthy lifestyle while staying fit and maintaining good health.

Nancy Singer
Nancy Singer has been teaching at Avon High School for over 35 years. During this period, she has not only taught almost every course offered at every level, but she has also served as department chair for over 30 years. In addition, she also served as an IU adjunct lecturer for Introduction to Composition (W131) for 20 years. She received her undergraduate degree in English education from Indiana University and her masters in high school curriculum from IUPUI. In addition to full-time teaching, Nancy has been involved in all facets of student education, from attendance and speaking at conferences and seminars on English education and the changing face of schools to serving on state and district wide committees on curriculum and testing procedures. She has been married to her high-school sweetheart for over 40 years, and together they have two children: a daughter who is a teacher like Nancy and a son who is a lawyer like his father. Most of her spare time is spent listening to music, interacting with friends and family, traveling, reading, and attending Colts football games. To Nancy, one of the most important parts of education is spending time one-on-one with students and helping them achieve.

Shannon Singleton
Shannon Singleton is from Illinois, but she has lived here in Indiana for 4 years now. Her husband was an officer in the Navy, and they moved around the east coast for about 5 years before they moved here. Shannon has been teaching for 6 years. She taught Geography in Middleburg, Florida, and she teaches government and AP government at Ben Davis High School, where she is also the Social Studies Department Chairperson. She received her bachelor's degree in History and Political Science from the University of Illinios at Chicago, and she received her master's degree in Curriculum and Technology from Indiana University. She spent time in college working in Washington, DC, and she loves studying politics. She also enjoys reading and spending time with family and friends. Her husband teaches Physics and Chemistry at Southport High School, and they have two dogs, both pugs, named Ernie Banks and Santo.

Jenna grew up in Lebanon, IN where she graduated with honors in 2003. She graduated from Ball State University with a degree in chemistry and chemistry education. Jenna was a member of the Student Affiliates of the American Chemical Society and a student member of NSTA and HASTI. While at Ball State University, Jenna tutored other students in chemistry and aided the professors in the first year chemistry lab. She was awarded the Excellence in Teaching Award from the Department of Chemistry in 2007. She is currently teaching 7th grade science in Avon, and continues to grow professionally.

Kim Staffordis entering her seventh year of teaching biology, second year biology, and Advanced Placement biology at Perry Meridian High School. She received her Bachelor of Science degree in Biology and Chemistry Education from Indiana State University in 2004. Kim furthered her education by achieving a Master of Science in Curriculum and Instruction with a focus on Technology from Indiana University in 2008. Kim is a graduate of the CIESC Teacher Leadership Academy group 14. She teaches first year biology and Advanced Placement biology for IOA. She has been married to her husband, Keith, for four years and they enjoy cheering for their beloved Chicago Cubs, traveling, white water rafting, and golfing.

Jeff Steiner
Jeff Steiner joined Roncalli High School as a full-time teacher in 2001. While at Roncalli, he has taught AP Calculus, Algebra 2, and Pre-Algebra. During his tenure, his students have achieved a great deal of success with 95% of them passing the AP Exam.Jeff received his Bachelor of Science degree in Mathematics from Taylor University. In 2006, he received his MBA from Anderson Universitys Falls School of Business. He is a 2001 recipient of the Indiana Association of Colleges for Teacher Education Future Educator of the Year Award. Jeff lives on the southside of Indianapolis with his wife and daughter. In his free time, he enjoys playing golf, tennis, and fantasy football as well as working outside in the lawn/garden.

James Stuart is currently the principal at James E. Davis School, located on the campus of the Indiana United Methodist Childrens Home. He also teaches an English class at the school every summer to maintain his teaching skills and because he genuinely enjoys teaching. His wife, Tammy, is currently an 8th grade teacher at Lebanon Middle School. She is also an IOA teacher. He has two grown boys, Chris and Sean, who are both currently working as well as pursuing other educational opportunities.

Tamila Stuart
Tamila Stuartis the daughter of 2 United Methodist ministers (talk about being a preachers kid!) and the wife of an English teacher now principal at the United Methodist Childrens Home in Lebanon, Indiana. This is a residential treatment center/ school for troubled youth. Jim, her husband has been there for 29 years. She is the mother of Christopher, soon to be 25 years old and a residential assistant for severely autistic youth at Damar Services. She is also the mother of Sean, now 21, a student at IUPUI in Physical Education and Health education, and a construction worker. They live in Lebanon, Indiana where they have been since 1986 and where her grandmother and parents have retired to. The profession of educator has influenced her ENTIRE life and she is currently an 8th grade English teacher at Lebanon Middle School. Previously she taught 9th grade English at Cascade High School in Clayton, Indiana. She is currently working on a Masters of Education degree through Indiana Wesleyan Universitys online program. She loves to travel, work with digital photo-journals, work in the yard, and read.

Karen Taff has been a member of the Social Studies department at Carmel High School since 1984. A 28-year veteran of teaching, she holds a B.A. from Purdue University ('81) and a M.S. from Indiana University ('85), with majors in history and English. She currently teaches regular U.S. history, A.P. United States history, and the I.U. Advance College Project H105/H106, as well a Carmels American History / American Literature Humanities block. She is also certified as an instructor in the International Baccalaureate program. Mrs. Taff is married with two children, ages 16 and 18. She enjoys reading, travelling, and following the Boilermakers.

Judi Treatis a Physical Education/Health Teacher at Perry Meridian High School. She has been teaching for 9 years. She graduated from Ball State University in 1997 with a BS in Exercise Science. In 2000, she received her teaching certification in PE and Health. She received her master's degree in Integrating Technology in the classroom from Waldon University in 2007.Judi is the mother of two girls, 5 and 2. She loves to spend her extra time playing with them outside. She enjoys taking walks, bike rides, and wagon rides. Scott Turnquist is entering his third year at Zionsville High School. Kathryn Veldhuizen teaches 7th grade Math, Pre-Algebra, and Algebra I at Speedway Junior High School. She is also the FCA huddle coach and a track coach. Kathryn earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Secondary Mathematics Education from Taylor University. She is the 2007 recipient of the Indiana Association of Colleges for Teacher Education Future Educator of the Year Award. Kathryn lives on the northwest side of Indianapolis. Malari Williams
Malari Williams has been teaching for 3 and half years. She graduated in December of 2004 from Butler University with a Bachelors Degree in Biology with a Chemistry minor. She then went on to pursue a Masters of Arts in Education at the University in Indianapolis, from which she graduated in May 2007. She has been teaching 7th grade Science at Avon Middle School South for the past three years. In addition to teaching, she leads the Science Club, the Science Academic Super Bowl team, and is the Science department coordinator. She is married to James Williams and just gave birth in February to their first son, Jackson.

Andrea Wilson
Andrea Wilsonwas born and raised on the Westside of Indianapolis. She attended Ben Davis High School before completing her undergraduate studies in Social Studies Secondary Education at Franklin College. She completed her Graduate work through Butler University earning her degree in Education Administration in December of 2006. Andrea is currently a teacher and Social Studies Department Chair in MSD Wayne Township. In addition to teaching, she coaches tennis at Ben Davis High school and actively plays league tennis year round. She also enjoys traveling the world and volunteering at her church.

Jason Wise
Jason Wise is currently employed as a teacher at Decatur Central High School in Indianapolis. He has been employed at Decatur Central for five years. He has also worked at Northview High School in Brazil, Indiana. In 1998, Mr. Wise received his Bachelor Degree from Franklin College, and in 2005 received his Master Degree from Indiana State University. He is happily married to Natalie, and they have three sons, Maximus, Jackson and Wyatt.

Dianne York
Dianne Yorkis a National Board Certified teacher in Mathematics certified through the National Board for Professional Teaching Standards. She received her degree from Purdue University in 1983. She also is a graduate of the PEAK institute for Effective Instruction and Assessment. She has taught in the Lawrence Township district for 18 years at the middle and high school level. Currently she is the Mathematics Department Chairperson for Lawrence North High School and enjoys teaching various classes there.
Dianne has 2 children, both at state universities. In her free time she enjoys running, biking, reading, and spending time with her family and friends.
