Mentor Insight Window
A Mentor Insight Window makes monitoring student progress and communicating with teachers so easy.
Parents/guardians can:
- Review grade transcripts, lessons and activities for every course your student is enrolled in.
- Navigate to more detail with just a click on a course title.
- Review calendars, announcements, and news to stay up-to-date on school and classroom events.
- Compare your students’ progress with his/her classmates’.
- Email any of your students’ instructors without leaving ANGEL.
To request an Insight Window account, you must know the username and password of the student.
To Request an Insight Window account:
- Click here. Then, choose the “Request a Mentor Insight Window account” link located below the Log On section. The Mentor Insight Window Account Request form appears.
- Type your first name and last name in the appropriate fields.
- Type your email address in the E-mail Address field.
- Type your phone number in the Phone field.
- Type the username of your student in the ANGEL username of your advisee Field
- Click the Submit button. The Add New advisee page appears.
- Type the password of your student in the advisee Password field.
- Click the Add username (where username is the name you have provided) button. The Insight Window Account Requested page appears.
- Click the Done button.
Within a few moments, you will be sent an email confirming the account request with username and password information. Use this information to access your student’s information.
How to use the Mentor site:
- Go to the IOA web site: www.indianaonlineacademy.org. Click on "Login" at the top of the page.
- Using your MENTOR login information (which is typically the parent's email address), enter your password.
- Click the "Insight Window" button.
- Click on the student's name - this will open a view of all the classes with the assignments listed. If there is no grade, it is either because the student has not completed the assignment or the instructor has not posted the grade for the assignment.
- Click on the title of the class - this will open the students announcement page in that class.
- There are TITLES across the top of the page that are called TABs.
- Click on any of these to open up additional information.
- Click on the Lessons tab - this will display all the lessons for this class.
- Click on the Communicate tab - this is where you can send an email to the student's teacher (click on All Course Faculty)
- Click on the Reports tab- this will allow you to run an activity report on what the student has been doing. You may also run the student's grade report here as well.

- The "Grades" tab is not a functioning option. IOA uses the "Grades" under the Report tab.
